Mercy

I understand and believe in the virus.  Many have died, many have been compromised.  Our health system is being taxed in astonishing ways.  I wish no ill or death to anyone.  Truly I emphasize with all that has been lost.

Vaccines help and will certainly help curb this epidemic and maybe ultimately prevail in keeping it at bay.  Science is not our only hope here  but it is critical.  I trust scientists world wide have our health and well being in their best interest.  Sure big money has influence .  Graft and greed have a role, for sure.  People are flawed pretty much wherever people are found.

New President and impeachment is so much white noise.  Again, flawed.  They cant agree to give folks 1000 bucks or some shit and I am supposed to believe they are capable of handling this crisis.  Spoiler alert, they cannot.

11 months.  11 months now without freedom.  11 months watching restaurants and bars closing.

Jobs forever lost.  Industries forever altered.

And what of the unknown tolls?  Marriages lost.  Depression spikes.  Chemical Dependency increases.  Will we remember how to talk to people?  How will conversation be altered?  When will have all the data of how 11 months of stagnant living change the course of history?

Will there be a baby boom?  Did the Oceans rise faster or go down?  So.  Many.  Questions.

But I just wanna see a show.  I want to be in line with a slight buzz waiting to be frisked.  I wanna hear the scanner machine beep each ticket.  I pray for the sexy bartender to yell "I heard you" when I call out my order, again.  Let me jockey to the front of the stage and watch the ballet that is roadies prep.  The one heavily tattooed bro with thick rimmed glasses sounding off on the mic.  "Check, check, 1,2,1,2."

Guitars being tuned.  Beverages brought to stage.  Upcoming shows flash on the projector- "Oh we should get tix for that one."

Chatting up some mutual fans who said they saw the act in Philly the night before.

"Did they do a cover?"  "How was the opener?"  "Do you like the new record?"

Eavesdropping on the first date.  Scoping the rest of the crowd.  How do I like this band and THEY like this band.  Ha, funny.

What could that kid have in that giant back pack?  And is he old enough to be drinking?  Reminding yourself someone born in 2000 is now of legal age.

Oh, cool, the setlist is going down on the floor.  Houselights next.

And finally, here they come.  One by one they assume their positions.  Maybe a guitar starts humming.  Bass picks up and some slow high hats.  Soft to medium, medium to steady...  faster, faster...

Singer is the last on stage as the music now hums and the lights capture the mic and star behind it.

Whatever the fuck he or she is selling I am a buyer.

We work too hard.  We have suffered a ton.  Without art and nature we suffer more mightily.  Virus you can attack and hope to have a positive outcome.  It is going to beat many of us.  So will a great many things.  And maybe that is just how it has to be.

Living a life unable to enjoy the beauty from humans and all the natural world around us is a killer too.

And Im fucking dying.

Is it just me???
